WHICH TYRE PRESSURE SHOULD MY CAR TYRE HAVE?

Correct tyre pressure is very important for safe and comfortable driving. A tyre only performs optimally with the correct tyre pressure; then the tyre offers sufficient stability and load-carrying capacity. With the right tyre pressure, a tyre wears the least and saves you fuel. Tyres that are too soft can cost you an extra tank of fuel on an annual basis.

TYRE PRESSURE CAR

Follow the advice of the car manufacturer for the correct tyre pressure. The prescribed tyre pressure for a car can often be found on the inside of the fuel filler flap. On some models, this is printed on the driver's door jamb. Pay attention! The values ​​differ for driving with two occupants, with five occupants and/or additional luggage. The heavier the load, the higher the tyre pressure.

CARAVAN TYRE PRESSURE

Caravans have different tyres than cars. They are often so-called van tyres, which are also often mounted under trailers. They have a different, somewhat stiffer carcass than passenger car tyres and they can bear a higher weight. The tyre pressure for a caravan is also considerably higher than that for a car. To be sure, check with the caravan supplier. The tension depends on the circumference of the tyre. The smaller it is, the higher the voltage should be.

TYRE PRESSURE WINTER TYRES

The same applies to winter tyres as to summer tyres. Also follow the advice of the car manufacturer here. Some manufacturers may recommend a slightly higher voltage.

CALCULATE TYRE PRESSURE

Driving speed, weight of the car, tyre size and maximum permissible tyre pressure are factors on the basis of which the level of tyre pressure can be determined. It can be calculated with a formula. However, it is quite complicated. We recommend that you do not calculate it yourself but follow the manufacturer's advice or the values ​​stated in the instruction manual.

HOW DO I CHECK THE TYRE PRESSURE?

The tyre pressure should preferably be checked once a month. Do not forget to check the tyre pressure of the spare tyre. It is also smart to check the tyre pressure before starting a long journey. Preferably check the tyre pressure only when the tyres are cold. To be able to speak of cold tyres, you must have not driven for at least 2 hours or very little and quietly. If you have already travelled a few kilometres, keep in mind that there must be at least 0.3 bar more in the tyre than the recommended pressure specified by the car manufacturer. The tyre pressure must always be the same for each axle.
